The UWF Television Championship, promoted by the Universal Wrestling Federation, started out as the Mid-South Television Championship in 1984 and was then represented by a medal. It was renamed when Mid-South Wrestling changed its name to the UWF in 1986 and the title medal was replaced by a belt. The TV title was the mid-level wrestlers' title during its existence.

Former AWA World Tag Team Champion, Memphis Wrestling Legend and former WCW agent and manager "Superstar" Bill Dundee talks about the talent exchange that Jerry Jarrett's Memphis Wrestling had with Bill Watt's Mid South Wrestling in 1983 that led to a boom in Mid South's Business and Dundee was a large part of that success being the booker for Watts at the time.
